Telok Ayer Green

Commemorating the Malay, Indian and Chinese communities that settled in this area, Telok Ayer Green is a quaint little park filled with sculptures of the street’s former inhabitants as well as various signboards detailing its history. *the copywriting are taken from here*

For me, myself, i found this Telok Ayer Green when I was lost on my way back to the office. That time, i don't have any camera with me yet. So, this time round, i took some pictures of it.

Boon Tat St. the corner site.

dawet seller sculpture. haha.
nope. it's not a "dawet". dunno what they're selling.
note: dawet is one of the local and traditional beverage from Java, Indonesia.

According to Wikipedia,

Cendol [pronounced 'chen-doll'] or es cendol is a traditional dessert originating from Java Indonesia, but is also popular in Malaysia[1], Singapore, and Southern Thailand (where it is called lorkchorng singapore ลอดข่องสิงคโปร์). The dessert's basic ingredients consist of shaved ice, coconut milk, starch noodles with green food coloring (usually sourced from the pandan leaf), and palm sugar. Red beans, glutinous rice, grass jelly, and creamed corn are optional additions. Cendol has become a quintessential part of cuisine among the multi-racial population in Southeast Asia and is often sold by vendors at roadsides, hawker centres and food courts.

Cendol vendors are also a common sight in Indonesian cities. In the Javanese language, cendol refers to the jelly-like part of the beverage, while the combination of cendol, palm sugar and coconut milk is called dawet.

how to get there?
Get there by taking the MRT to Raffles Place (exit G), then walk down Philip and Telok Ayer Streets for a history lesson in Singapore’s earliest settlers.

For another destination around the chinatown (and else), you might go to this website.
